It is my understanding that the brand of SD card that this laptop uses is a closed source driver. I gave the netbook remix a try but didn't like it, it felt watered down so I reinstalled with the standard desktop version of 10.10. After doing this I realized that the SD card reader doesn't work under Ubuntu.
